SMOKIN SURPRISE is much the best of these, if he finds his Florida form today -
however, Richard Rettele makes an interesting move by tossing a decent 4yo filly
into the mix with these boys. RR usually enters with
time decision, or pass the race
Broke alertly but was soon joined by others on his outside, pinched into the rail in the stretch run until guided to the outside where he missed by a length - the winner, Rettele's filly, was DQ'd (SMOKIN SURPRISE was awarded 1st, $3.80)
Race 2
NELSON HALL is another Rebecca Baker maiden, her string of non-winners always
gets my attention
Had the easiest of inside trips, but was beaten by better in the lane (4th by 1)
Race 3
ANTIQUE SILVER may be perfectly placed at this condition, she is as sharp as the
Gorham/Skerrett combo
Ran evenly throughout to be well placed into the stretch but had no punch today (4th by 5)
Race 5
SEAN WHO has a shot here, if she came out of the 11June contest as well as the
winner, MEADOW VESPERS, did - that one notched another impressive
Took a ground saving trip until swung wide for the stretch run, just missed while full of run (2nd by a head)
Race 6
BOLD CAPTAIN is well travelled, but has done all of his winning in Cleveland
Another well rated trip along the rail where he remained to battle the 1/5 winner (2nd by half a length)
