I am going to introduce my buddy to Thistledown on Monday. I'm sure that a winning day would enhance his experience. I didn't nail down many winners last week, so my advice isn't going to be worth much. My early looks are listed below. Please jump into the comment box or tweet me with some advice to save my friend's day.
Race 1
Luis Gonzalez has seemed selective with his rides so far. His appearance on ROCKIN' WITH MARVY gets my attention here. Much the best
Race 2
KABUKI RHYTHM looks like the most likely of these to last six furlongs. The bullet work (30Apr) might have been a sharpener. Never lifted a foot - last of six
Race 3
Tim Hamm reunites ROLLINWITDLITTLEMAN with Gonzalez at the site of this son of Victory Gallop's lone win. Gave up without a fight - last of five
Race 4
SKIPPY DUE's back class and the 3May bullet make him dangerous. If speed has been holding, EQUALWAY could be the guy. SKIPPY DUE found his best stride late - second by a head to a $57.20 winner; EQUALWAY had a loose lead until he gave way in the stretch - third by four lengths
Race 5
Jockey Jane jumps right back on KELHAM for Elliot Sullivan after and even effort last Saturday. However, Gerald Bennett looks to have J'S SUNNY LIBO well place for his return to the Big T. KELHAM scratched; J'S SUNNY LIBO led gate to wire
Race 6 - The race of the day
Three "horses for this course" face off here. SEA PRANCER (4/10), BLING'S RISING STAR (5/7), and EAST END HOUSEWIFE all like running in Cleveland. BLING'S RISING STAR couldn't make the lead last week, he might get it and go in this race. Hector Rosario gets another shot in the saddle. It appears that Yamil Rosario has taken his business to Delaware? SEA PRANCER caught and passed BLING'S RISING STAR in late stretch
Race 7
YOUCANSEEMECOMING is a horse that I'll have to play until something on the Thistledown grounds shows me that he can be beaten. Anthony Rini seems to have found some live stock at Oaklawn Park. Caught late after seeming to be in control; returned in mild distress - second by three lengths
Race 8
One of these will shine on Monday afternoon. None of them has done much in the mornings lately, let alone the last 16 months. SAVETHELASDANCEFOME was the aptly named winner of today's last "dance"
