My first look went to YES LEE, wide on the turn, just out for a workout, etc. Toss in wily Anthony Rini, I figured the I had a live longshot. A look at the race shows YES LEE was wide, but not engaged in race at all. It didn't look like much of a prep, but Rini/Seabury are making a lot more money at this meet than I am.
I'd like to eliminate the leader of this pack last time, but he looked so much sharper than the others, it's hard to believe that JITTER IN ROME isn't one. Can he hold it together for a week? PYRITE BOB and ULTIMATE BLISS were in the mix early, then flattened out. Either of them could step up if JITTER IN ROME regresses.
Looking for the "new shooter," one of them has shown little at Beulah, the other steps on the track for the first time since '09. I'd appreciated some advice here. The comment box is open and I'm always checking Twitter @jrgbsn.
Gozzalez replaced Seabury on YES LEE, took her straight to the lead never looking back. JITTER IN ROME rallied along the rail to place. ULTIMATE BLISS also ran a strong race, finishing third.
Race six could provide a mild upset if a hot early pace allows SHAK SHAK an opportunity to come running late. SHAK SHAK was scratched.
It's hard to look past Bennett's LEGGY LAURA in the seventh race. She's dropping out of open claiming races at Tampa. LEGGY LAURA, always the best, replaced the leader in midstretch to win in hand.
