Went The Day Well

My friend's first trip to Thistledown has come and gone. I had a great time sharing my old haunts and stories from "back in the day."  Always a good sport, he endured my babble while proving to be an able Cleveland handicapper. We co-mingled our wagers after arriving too late to bet the first race, each of us tabbed two short priced winners during the rest of the card. We split three dollars in losses at the close of the "went well day."

Thistledown presented itself well to its new guest. I'm sure that he'll be back for more as the summer continues. Of course, the "Big T" always provides some surprise. Today we drank Dolly's bar dry - all three ounces of bourbon that they had on hand. When was the last time you experienced a race track with no Jack Daniels? Also, purchase your beer carefully. Note that a 12oz. draft is $5, while 16oz. cans cost $4.

The new guy enjoyed the room to spread out. Our last race day together was at Keeneland among this year's record setting crowd on Blue Grass Day. Those folks waiting to get into the downtown casino's opener tonight have already missed the best game in town . . .

  1. Good job in bringing another one into the fold at "The T". He'll be back, I'm sure.

  2. Thanks. It's tough work, but I do what I can (smile).
